Abstract

This study aimed to examine fathers’ mindful parenting scores according to various variables. Within the scope of the research, 406 (fathers) participants who had children between the ages of 3-18 were reached. The participants were recruited using a simple random sampling method. The Demographic Information Form, which was developed by the researcher and the Mindfulness in Parenting Questionnaire (MIPQ) was used to measure fathers’ mindful parenting attitudes. Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) 25 was used to analyze the data. It was observed by applying Kolmogorov-Smirnov Test that the study group did not show normal distribution so non-parametric analysis methods were used in the analyses. The Mann-Whitney U test was used in analyses involving the comparison of two independent groups, and the Kruskal-Wallis H test was used in analyses involving the comparison of three or more independent groups. Statistically significant differences were found between fathers' mindful parenting scores and their adopted classical parenting attitudes, describing their relationships with their children, partners, their own parents, co-parenting relationships with partners, their children's developmental stage, spending quality time with their children, and participating in social activities with their children. The results are discussed in the light of the literature.
